Publishing News came to the LBD party last week and have written a great article about the first anniversary of the imprint.

Thanks Phillipa, that was fascinating. I was wondering how LBD saw itself, because I could see from the website that there were both similarities to, and differences from, Mills & Boon’s approach.
When they say that the typical LBD novel ‘has some kind of love story and is slightly shorter than a full-length novel’ does that mean there doesn’t have to be a happy ending for the love story?
Phillipa Says:
Laura - this article was fascinating to me too especially as I have received a number of emails recently from authors asking me about writing for LBD. The LBD novels I have read couldn’t have been more diverse in style and execution, yet did have happy endings in common. However one, My Three Husbands by Swan Adamson, was *very unusual*… yet still had an emotionally satisfying conclusion. To say any more would be a spoiler! Well worth a read.

What a great piece of publicity - and how nice that, with your RNA award, you were top of their ‘our authors include’ list!!
xx
Phillipa Says:
RT- I just got lucky there. Can’t claim any more than that!
Rosy Thornton Says:
Sorry - absolutely no slight to other LBD authors intended! It’s just, you’re my mate so I’m happy to see you topping the bill!
