Busy busy

Today I had the luxury of a whole day to write Just Say Yes. I’ve been out part of the week, working the other and I’ve managed to get to about half way with the first draft which makes me feel more confident. I’m sure there’s lots to edit but for now, I’m keeping the momentum going. Did I say I’m loving writing this story? I wonder if that’s a good thing or not. I need to get down and depressed so I can load it up with angst. That will happen, soon enough, I expect…

I’ve also started to plan my workshop for the Write Read Pure Passion Day in Cumbria next week. The theme I chose (and hope I don’t live to regret) is First Encounters and it’s about grabbing the readers/editors’ attention from the opening line. I thought it was appropriate as this is my very first workshop; I’m still a new author and I love writing openings. I’m a little nervous about leading a workshop but also hugely looking forward to it. I hope it will be a fun experience for us all!

What’s more the event in the stunning Lake District - my all-time favourite place.

Next weekend is the RNA Conference and I’ll be there on Sunday so do come and say ‘hello’ if you visit the blog and haven’t met me yet. I’ll be at the LBD talk amongst other things. Jenny Haddon’s Plot Rescue Service is a must too.

PS Promise I’ll reveal my news when it’s all settled. Fingers crossed it will be soon.

Gaudy Night

.. I’m slinking in, shamefaced because …you were all right and I was wrong. I had a wonderful time and everyone, without exception, was charming, lovely and fascinated by my new career. By the end of the evening, I was confidently declaring to everyone that ‘I wrote sexy chicklit and Borders had got five copies!”

To all the friends I met again and the new acquaintances I made, thanks for a wonderful evening. I apologise for having so little faith that you would be open-minded, generous - and just plain fun.
Also to my RNA friends who weighed in with support and who (rightly) have shaken me soundly.
PS And there was more than enough material for a novel….
