Stafford
September 11, 2007 | Comments
I’m giving a talk about my work at Waterstones, Stafford tomorrow night from 6-7pm. The shop is managed by my great friend, Jan who is bookselling star and rescues injured owls in her spare time.
Then we’re all off for a bite to eat in the pub or maybe a pasta restaurant. Hope to see you there!
UPDATE 13/9/07
I had a really fun time last night. Thanks to Janice and the Book Group – and to my family and N& S messageboard friends, Jancis and Scarletheels who came along. We had a Pizza afterwards – and we also had Peaches (very round, ripe, perfectly formed peaches…). There’s a real Jack Thornfield vs Will Tennant debate going on too.

My first signing
September 8, 2007 | 4 Comments
I did my first signing today. My biggest fear was that no one would come along. I had no idea if zero people or 40 would arrive at James Redshaw, the awesome independent bookshop in Lichfield, my home town.
The reality, of course, was somewhere in between. What amazed me was the age range of people buying both Wish You Were Here and Decent Exposure. I had all ages from teenagers up to ladies who are, shall we say, slightly more mature. In fact, I got a lovely email from the son of a lady of 87 the other day. Not a bad spread of buyers, I’d say.
My running coach and his wife also came along – thanks Chris and Lesley. They are wonderful – they know I have had to give up running or face surgery but they still came to support me.
If you want to write a book and think ‘it couldn’t be me’, well, I thought that. But how wrong I was. It CAN be you. It could be you. But you have to be in it to win it, so get writing and finish that novel now!

Publication day

I couldn’t let today go by without marking it : Wish You Were Here is officially published today in paperback. I had a lovely card from LBD and a newspaper came to do a feature on the book signings I have coming up (and on the Other Thing.:)
The first is at James Redshaw in Lichfield this Saturday (8th) from 11am-1pm.
Everyone’s back from hols and wants copy. I spent the past few days writing and researching for a big utility company, a homes magazine and a regional daily newspaper. I’ve been out and about most of the time and off the PC so that’s helped my RSI symptoms a lot.
Next week I’m going to finish the first draft of Just Say Yes. Really!
Busy bee
September 2, 2007 | 2 Comments
I am and will have to neglect the blog for a while as I have a mega busy week of day job work coming up and a few signings (see home page for details).
Also I’ve been getting a few RSI like symptoms and after my experience with my Achilles tendon, I want to be very careful. No any non-essential pc work has to be cut to zero.
My ‘big news’ has progressed to a new level and we’re just waiting now for documents to come winging their way over the Atlantic.
JSY is at 68k with about 5k to go. My longest ever book. I could easily have made it a ‘brick’!

PS See some of you very soon…
PPS Squee. WYWH is riding high on the Amazon LBD chart (prob cos it’s half price at £2.49). By the time you click on the link it probably will be number zillion but hey, it’s fun to obsess.
And DE is still going. That book will never die…
