Seen in Dubai…

October 20, 2007

Liz has made my day by spotting a real person reading WYWH by the pool in Dubai. Yes, I know it’s pathetic of me, but as a relatively new author, it’s still an enormous buzz to realise that actual people you don’t know buy your book and, shock horror, actually seem to enjoy it. Even though you have seen the sales figures and realise you can’t possibly know them all in person - you don’t assume that the reader will ‘feel the love’ too! When they do, it’s just the best feeling.*

And hello (waves) to all the Richard Armitage fans visiting via imdb. Yes, I did start writing as a direct result of watching RA in North & South. It’s all true - just ask my OH!

*Apart from England winning the rugby world cup. Fingers crossed… oh, Jonny, Jonny…

    Hi, Phillipa,
Came over from Liz’s site to have a look. Nice blog!

Her posting about a real person reading a real writer’s book delighted me. Even more delighted to see that you are delighted too! Your reaction is not remotely pathetic; it’s a good-old-fashioned honest response from someone with her feet firmly on the planet. Good for you! Good luck with “Just Say Yes”.

    Stunning picture of JW btw!

How exciting on the spotting in Dubai, and I’ve not seen Jonny before, but he is perfectly yummy!

How exciting!!! I live for the day when (maybe, some time) I or someone I know will spot a genuine Member of the Public reading one of my books! You must be so proud, Phillipa!

LOL ..but England didn’t win the Rugby World Cup however, considering the state the team was in a month ago, we peformed a minor miracle.

Alyssa - Jonny Wilkinson is one of the UK’s most famous sports stars. He is the fly half (I think) for the England rugby team. He’s not terribly tall and very muscular but also very beautiful in a macho way. And an inspirational rugby player - his mum is called Phillipa too.

Leigh. Glad you like the blog. Shame Jonny didn’t get to lift the Webb Ellis cup as well as looking hot.
