Right. I am worried about this blog turning into a Guy of Gisbourne fansite but I had such a reaction to THAT pic, I found the actual clip on You Tube HERE. Blink and you’ll miss it - twice.
Now, I have copywriting piling up and must go but I’m a happy and relieved person today. My new ed called me yesterday to say that she *loves* the manuscipt of Just Say Yes. Hurrah. I celebrated with my first mince pie of the um..festive season.

PS Did you know mince pies date back to medieval times. Perhaps Guy would have nibbled one?

I heard some great news this morning - one of the members of the North & South fansite board, which got me started on writing fiction, has just had her Regency novel accepted by a romance publisher. I don’t know the details yet. She also joined the RNA NWS so I think she’ll be eligible for the Joan Hessayon Prize.
Congrats, Freddie (as we know her). I hope you’ll come along here and unmask yourself soon. I have just discovered that she lives in the Midlands too. There is definitely something in our water…
Also congrats to another N&S person, Rosy Thornton, whose new novel, Hearts and Minds, arrived at my house this morning. It’s beautiful and the reviews on the cover are to die for.

Ray-Anne has written a fascinating post about structuring a novel and about using the ‘beats’ and scene technique. It’s here.
I couldn’t write this way but lots of people seem to find the approach invaluable - including one of the most successful contemporary romance writers in the world, Jenny Crusie.
I use the ‘lie back and think of England’ method which is probably why I’m just a minion!
And on that note, here’s an illicit pic of Guy of Gisbourne (played by Richard Armitage) with his shirt off. I can’t say where I got this from but thank you to the source.

My agent sent over my manuscript to my new ed yesterday so maybe that’s why I was awake from 4-6am this monring. Or it could have been the ideas buzzing round my head. Or the cheese I had on my chilli con carne for supper. Anyway, Mr B wasn’t amused. He had to get up for work at 5.30am and my tossing and turning woke him up long before the alarm.
Can I just say: Yesterday, went to see my amazing and brilliant uncle who’s very seriously ill (but feeling a bit better for the moment). I was worried about making him feel worse by being crass or tactless but actually, I had a great - and very entertaining - time, as I always do in his company. If there’s someone you should be visiting - don’t wait, go and see them NOW. You’ll know who he is next year because I’ve dedicated my next book to him and I took along the ms and Amazon blurb so he could see. He’s an award-winning Professor with a string of honorary degrees and he was very amused to have a romance dedicated to him!

who is in the desert, and missing her family and Cornish home. I think this pic is of the coast north of Port Isaac - Mr B took it.
