Who is your Will?

November 30, 2007 | Comments

Trashionista have posted a little snippet about the movie option of Decent Exposure. Now, I know this may never happen but it’s fun to speculate all the same. They’ve been asking for suggestions of actors and actrsses to play Will and Emma. I was going to offer a prize for the best suggestion - either of my extensive library of two novels or another LBD from my collection.

And yes, I have posted three times already!

PS There’s a Writers Guild Strike in the US… wah!

A new adventure

November 29, 2007 | 3 Comments

Well. I’ve started another book. I’m waiting on a tiny bit of research from my long-suffering accountant before I can send JSY off to the ed.

However, The Book is Dead. Long Live the New Book.

For It Should Have Been Me, I’ve got completely new characters to get to know, new places to explore and a whole new plot which I hope will be the most dramatic I’ve done so far. I sincerely hope so, anyway!

I am also a - reading a book and b - have bought a book. This is a minor miracle as I’ve hardly read anything longer than a magazine article lately. I’m currently laughing out loud at Nell Dixon’s Things to Do and this lunchtime I bought two copies of Christina Jones’s Heaven Sent, one for me, one for a present. The cover is to die for. I want a cover with gold and sparkly bits on! Wah! Flounce! (Just getting into character for drama queen, Carrie Brownhill, heroine of my new book).

Snippets

MTA yesterday a link to the new Sunday Times Young Carers Campaign. I first read about this charity back in April and I’m so glad the Sunday Times has chosen to support it. The campaign is raising money for work with young carers and also aims to increase awareness of the problems they face.

And on a totally trivial note. I have been quivering in delicious anticipation of the announcement of the Bad Sex in Fiction Awards.

Wales, writing and rodents

November 27, 2007 | 1 Comment

We spent the weekend in North Wales at a lovely little hotel in the Conwy Valley and on Sunday we walked to gorgeous Aber Falls. Today, after finishing my edits, I’m going to turn out Miss Bennet’s room ready for her return from uni. There must be cobwebs in there by now.

On a writer-ly note, I’ve almost done the edits to Just Say Yes which has ended up at nearly 75K words, my longest book so far. I’ve also arranged a surreal trip next Easter as research for It Should Have been Me - I can’t wait to tell you more but Mr B and possibly Miss B are coming with me. I am also wondering if Decent Exposure will ever die as it has just been reviewed by Trashionista. Apart from the ending (!) I’m absolutely made up with the rest of the review.

Our rabbit, Smudge, seemes to have recovered from his brain illness. He’s quite old so any time we get with him now is a bonus. However, he has had rats invading his run and I’m afraid they have had to be despatched. Yuk. I left it all to my intrepid FIL.

Coffee and gossip

November 23, 2007 | 2 Comments

Have today had a lovely lunch with Nell, Allison and Liz, a new Robert Hale author. The company was great and Nell, is as ever, full of practical advice, ‘insider’ info and wisdom. My revisions are going well and I’ve a very nice weekend planned. Best of all, next week, my daughter comes home for Christmas. I feel very lucky right now.
