Two pieces of web related ‘news’ this morning.
1. Little Black Dress has launched a fantabulous new website. It’s hip, sexy and should be bottled and drunk three times a day. There are now author bios - or rather author revelations (not about me yet, I’ve still got to provide my five facts.) You can read about Kate Lace, the wildly adventurous new LBD author whose book, Chalet Girl, is published in paperback next week. You can also win a pink chocolate fountain and download some very stylish and scrummy screensavers. Guess which one I’ve chosen? (see below)
2. I’ve been interviewed by the rather posh Vulpes Libris and have tried to give sensible answers to some interesting questions. I had to bribe them with tickets to the premiere of Decent Exposure (progress of which has been affected by the Hollywood Writers’ Strike.) This event is so pie-in-the-sky that we regularly fantasise about how glam it will be. We’re going to hire the WI Hall next door to our house in the village and get a roll end of red carpet from Allied. We’ll get the ice cream man down the road to visit during the interval and I’ve lined up the guest celebs already…

Just showed Miss B the opening of ISHBM which has a non-dialogue opening for the first time ever (for now anyway).
She laughed a lot but as my sternest and fairest critic, told me that having a Maid Marian and Sheriff of Nottingham on top of a wedding cake was a step too far for the reader to accept. Wah!
Should the Sheriff stay or should he go?
On that note, Richard Armitage has sent a message to his fans about a ‘top secret’ project. Sounds very intriguing. I wonder if it’s Spooks? Or Bond? So gratuitous excuse number 101 to use a pic of GoG - who really is the inspiration for Matt, the hero of ISHBM. The pic is from the BBC Children in Need site via www.richardarmitageonline.com. Please give generously to CIN!

I don’t know about other writers but sometimes I think my life passes in another dimension. Miss B is back from uni (Hurrah!), we all went Christmas shopping on Saturday and on Sunday, Mr B tied me to the dining chair and forced me to write my share of the Christmas cards.
I used to plan the whole festive season months ahead and in minute detail. I used to bake mince pies and make a chocolate log. I used to write ALL the cards. However, I think I have just spent several months of my life in a darkened room writing about summer in Cornwall and have only now wandered into Santa’s Grotto.
PS: Suggestions for Will. Gerry Butler, Richard Armitage, Clive Owen, Colin Firth (?), some guy from The Bill. For Emma: Keeley Hawes, Sally from Smack The Pony, Sarah Parish… In my dreams.
