Manic Friday!

May 2, 2008

This morning has been manic and sunshine has broken through the clouds. The proofs of Just Say Yes arrived by special delivery - I was SO excited. I can’t wait for you to read it.

This is the scene:

Me: Sorry I’m in my pyjamas and look minging again! I do work you know. I’m a writer.

Postman: I know you’re a writer. My sister read your book and loved it.

Me (ripping proofs from package) : Really? (incredulous) Oh! Here look! This is my new book….

Postman: Yes. Very exciting but I need to finish my round now.

Then, while still in my jim jams, I got asked to go on Three Counties radio at 10 mins notice. I had to defend the honour of romantic fiction - as soon as the show finishes, I’ll put a link to it. Goodness knows what I said!

OK - it was The Nine O’Clock Show on BBC Three Counties Radio. There’s a listen again feature via that site. I was on about 10.30am.

    Hi Phillipa,

I thought you were fantastic. You really got your point across and hopefully dismissed those old-fashioned notions that romantic fiction is all heaving bosoms, cruel heroes and Barbara Cartland!

    Have a lovely weekend!

  5. Moira Says:

Found it on the ‘Listen Again’ feature, Pip. Well done, that woman! You really held your own. :o)

  6. Phillipa Says:

Aww. Thanks everyone! The upside of this one was I didn’t have too much time to get worried and nervous. :)

  7. Ray-Anne Says:

Ah. Writers’ grunge. The horror.. the splendour. And the postie knew about your book.. fame at last, girl, fame at last.

  8. Phillipa Says:

    Ray anne :)

Have to admit. Postie does live locally, I suppose and I do get the occasional (ahem) local press coverage. Not much happens round here you see!

I’m currently in my jeans but my pyjama vest top is still on underneath an old hoodie.

Woman at garden centre recognised me last week but i do know her from the PTA too. :)
