I had yesterday off and it was fantastic. Not only because I had lunch with Nell and Liz but because I went to see The Feeling in Wolverhampton. If they’re not cool, I don’t care, they are AMAZING live. If you want a cure for dreary days, job worries and writing blues, go see them.
Highlights?
Every moment but especially their version of Take on Me - and we wrinklies were among the few who remember the original.
Also Dan G-S literally diving into the crowd – without bouncers – and surfing over everyone’s heads from stage to back of the hall. Then he re-emerged in the front row of the balcony and sang a ballad.
This pic is from Smeely in The Feeling gallery, showng him surfing at another gig. I hope she or he doesn’t mind me linking to it.

I’ve been a bit down over the whole writing/publishing thing for quite a while now but this morning I had one of the most inspirational and encouraging messages ever from a 16-yr-old reader. I’ll share it with you tomorrow, if I may.
Now back to THE book, with a vengeance!

A former colleague sent me this link – it’s a guy who used to work on the local paper I worked for – and also for the big regional group I’ve been freelancing for all summer.
He is now a You Tube sensation after being filmed at 3am ‘covering’ the Obama election.
Moral: NEVER write while under the influence – esp while being filmed!

It’s been a peculiar week. Eggheads was fun and the goodwill and generosity of writer friends who watched it has made me
The Obama factor was a boost and visiting my daughter at uni yesterday was a real pleasure, as ever. But the Credit Crunch is causing serious worries in our household, affecting my business badly and the industry in which which Mr B works. Thank goodness I was inundated with work over the summer while I took a break from novel writing. All I can do now is seize the chance to press on with my latest wip – normally fiction has to be fitted in when proper work is done.
Still having fun with it.

Oh happy day.
Not even the pterodactyls circling round can spoil it.

Tonight’s the night, I’m afraid. I’m on Eggheads on BBC2 at 6pm with Julie Cohen, Cpt Catherine Jones (Kate Lace), Louise Allen, Judy Astley and Katie Fforde. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Here are some pics – first having make-up done. Rumour has it that these ladies had been doing the I’d Do Anything finalists the day before. They called in extra supplies for me.

Next – with the Eggheads and Jeremy Vine.

Finally – starving after the 8am shoot, we gather at Paddington Station for ‘lunch.’

Thanks to Julie Cohen for the photos.
