I’m not panicking but…

February 28, 2009

Amazon are showing ISHBM as ‘temporarily out of stock’ while the other LBDs are ready for dispatch. I know they are out there because I’ve had a boxful this week.

Must stay calm, must stay calm, must stay calm… (runs around gibbering)

However Waterstones have it right NOW. Hurrah!

See? be careful what you wish for if you’re desperate to be published. if you weren’t deranged already, you soon will be. (Slinks off to get the Rescue Remedy and do deep breathing exercises…)

Outraged of Staffordshire

February 27, 2009

Well, after last night, I am completely outraged. I shall write to my MP (when I’ve stopped laughing.) I’m just glad, unlike RB, I wasn’t wearing mascara. The most shocking aspect of the evening was the fact that Mr B and I were old enough to be the parents of 90% of the audience. Now, that is a bit worrying…

Update: I suppose this is very loosely related to the above but you must read this post on Help! I need a Publisher on how to deal with negative reviews.

Winner

February 26, 2009

Thanks for all the entries to the competition – it was really difficult to choose from the tempting scenarios but in the end, I decided on Sally Lawton who wanted to direct one of her own plays at the Minack (starring herself and David Tennant – can’t really see the attraction myself. :)

Congrats Sally. I shall need your address.

Later today, as a matter of fact, I’m off to see a performance in Brum – Mr Bennet got me tickets to see Russell Brand. I shall report back…

My first real reader

February 25, 2009

is reading ISHBM and I am pathetically grateful that she is giving up her time to read it and send nice comments en route. (She is actually the second as my mum read the proof copy but mums are different.)

The book is out in the open. Eeek!

Win a signed copy of ISHBM

February 23, 2009

The delivery man knocked my door today – and for once, found me wearing some clothes, rather than my pyjamas. He also brought my author delivery of It Should Have Been Me which is published on March 5th.

The main character, Carrie, is a talented amateur actress and the novel features a key scene at the wonderful Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

If you’d like to win a signed copy of ISHBM before the release date, just post a message here or via the contact form and tell me what play/show – or which actor or even band – you’d like to see performing on that stage.

Closing date is 9am Thursday Feb 26th so I have time to pick a winner and post out your book before the release date.

Carrie sees a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream but personally, I envisage Decent Exposure brought to life by a cast of costume drama actors…
