These guys aren’t my agents but I came across this interesting free chapter on getting published – available to download.
Not sure I agree with everything it says but there are some very good points if you’re just starting out.

It was the BAFTAs last night and a group of ladies from my Internet North & South/creative writing group managed to get tickets to the red carpet when the stars arrived.
They took some fantastic pictures of celebs arriving and PG at RAC has very generously allowed me to use some of her Richard Armitage pics on my blog.

If you don’t know the story yet, I started writing fiction after watching a BBC drama called North & South in November 2004. Richard played the hero, John Thornton.

After the show finished, I joined an Internet fansite called C19. Some of us started writing N&S inspired fanfiction and original work. We shared our stories on the creative writing section of the messageboard (are you following this?).
Many people (including me) had never writen a word of fiction before seeing N&S. The board encouraged us to keep on writing and submit our work to agents and editors.
Now, four of us are in print (Juliet Archer, Rosy Thornton, Elizabeth Hanbury and me) with several more on the way very soon, so I hear.
What’s more, we’re all members of the Romantic Novelists Association!

Thank you PG for sharing.

In the absence of any interesting new novel writing news, I’ve resorted to a cheap trick. Post a photo of a hot bloke with his shirt off. This has come about as a result of naming Five people you’d want on your side in a bar fight – a craze currently sweeping Facebook.
FWI, I chose:
1. Gene Hunt
2. Amy Winehouse
3. John Thornton (the BBC kung fu version)
4. Wolverine
5. Jimmy Nail (as Spender, the cooler-than-ice TV cop)
One of my friends chose Chris Evans. Chris Evans, I thought? Funny guy, pretty ginger hair, does a lot for charity but …in a fight. No way!
Then I saw the Chris Evans they meant. Oh. I see. That Chris Evans. How could I have missed him before? He’s one of the Fantastic Four, apparently. You bet…

It Should Have Been Me was chosen as Inside Soap Book of the Week. The review called it an ‘emotional rollercoaster’ which is what I love to write and kind of sums up my writing life at the moment.;)
I missed it when it came out but the whizzy publicity people at LBD emailed me a scan. If anyone saw the original and can send me a copy, I’d be delighted to send you a signed copy of the book – or any of my backlist! I live in hope.

It’s official! Little Black Dress books are now available as e books which is fantastic for anyone outside the UK who can’t find the books in their local shops. You can now get them any time, any place – without delivery costs.
You can download mine here at Waterstones online – plus Nell Dixon’s, of course, and the other lovely LBD authors. There’s also, dare I say it, 20% off them all at the moment.
And if you need help downloading your e books (that’d be me then…) you can find out more here.
