Happy Monday

June 29, 2009

You’ll have to forgive my wildly over-excited posts of late. Any writer can tell you that not everything goes well over a career – so when fun things do happen, you really need to enjoy them. That’s my excuse anyway.

Happy Monday # 1 is that my daughter’s back from uni for the summer. We had a very smiley, girly afternoon yesterday when i finally found out something I’ve been dying to know – I can’t share just yet but all I’ll say is, THUD. Even Mr Bennet approved in a blokey, gruff way of course. :)

And I had an extra little surprise. LBD books are very popular in Malaysia and my most recent LBD made the Top Ten bestsellers in the Malyasia Star Fiction chart thanks to to all the lovely readers out there.

I hope to be back very soon with some news of you-know-who. :)

Bad blogger, am I

June 25, 2009

Yes, bad blogger am I…

Discovered who is playing Will, I have not…

Written any fiction, I have not…

Copywriting I certainly have been…

Off to see Paul Weller tomorrow night, am I … and tipping down with rain it is forecast to be.

and most of all, no matter what other disasters may befall me, my IMDb Starmeter is up 155% this week. I presume that means I have been visiting the page a little too often – I am rapidly turning into Sir Walter Elliot.

Sometimes, lately, I really do feel like I’m living on another planet.:)

Strictly Come Bookselling

June 17, 2009

I’m really looking forward to the weekend (I think!) because this Saturday, June 20, I’m going to be Strictly Come Bookselling at our local indie bookshop, James Redshaw, in Lichfield. I’m going to be signing books (fine), talking about books (also fine) and – eeek! – serving customers and using the till from around 1pm – 3pm. I have already warned Sue and her team that I am incompetent with cash handling unless it’s handing over money for a new pair of shoes or a large skinny latte.

Strictly Come Bookselling is one of hundreds of events that are part of Independent Booksellers Week – so please get down to your local and support our indie bookshops.

And I absolutely refuse to wear the sequinned lycra leotard and fake tan.

Movie snippet and audio book

June 15, 2009

There’s a little snippet here from Kristin Chenoweth about filiming Twelve Men of Christmas/Decent Exposure this summer. Still no news of Will.

My writer friend, Rosy Thornton, has had some good news today too – after a good review by The Guardian (gasp!), she also heard that her new novel, Crossed Wires, is going to be an audio book. Many are hoping that the delectable Mr Richard Armitage might deign to wrap his voice round her beautiful prose. But authors have no say over casting so we’ll just have to keep everything crossed. :)

Riding the rollercoaster

June 14, 2009

Sorry if I have bailed out of the blog for a while. My excuses are Internet problems, some family turmoil and a deadline for a major commercial writing project. I’ve also been organising a last minute trip to …. well, I’ll leave it to your imaginations. :)

The salutary lesson I learned during the winter is that I love to be busy, whether that’s writing novels or writing copy, so I feel very grateful to have a full order book right now. In a few weeks, we’re off en famille on a hastily arranged adventure.

The moment I hear any more about Twelve Men of Christmas (the movie of Decent Exposure) or in the event of any more good news, I will share it but the above picture sums up my life at the moment!

PS Almost forgot, please forgive me a small squee of excitement but I’m listed on the imDB.
