Happy Burns Night!

January 25, 2012

Okay, I’m not Scottish, not even a fraction (as far as I know) but I love the idea of Burns Night.

I’ve been to and hosted a couple of Burns Suppers, which are held, of course, to celebrate the life and work of the poet, Robert Burns. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet’s birthday, 25 January.

The traditional dish is haggis, served with neeps ‘n’ tatties and traditionally, borne into the room accompanied by bagpipes. It’s also customary to read out Burns’ Ode To a Haggis and enjoy a wee dram (of whisky ) or two…

The last time we had a Burns Supper, I kid you not I almost made it a real Burns Night when my serviette caught fire in a candle. I had to throw a glass of water over it. :)

There’s plenty of info about Burns Night here on Scotland.org but I also choose to use it as an excuse to visit these sites – Kiltmen.com and a slightly more risque site which also features sexy men in kilts.

New US cover for Just Say Yes

January 23, 2012

Thought I’d share the fresh and pretty new US cover for Just Say Yes. It’s out on June 1st in US stores but you can also order it anywhere in the world with free shipping from HERE. In fact, the US edition is cheaper than the UK edition (which is out of print anyway…)

The Coffee Crew meets later today and we have some exciting news to celebrate for one of our members (not me, which narrows it down a little!)

So what DID happen at the end of Sherlock?

January 16, 2012

If you saw the final episode of Sherlock last night, you may be wondering what on earth happened?

The show was an outstanding end to a brilliant series.

Having speculated on Twitter about the ending, I’ve come across two ingenious theories – one of which is HERE. All works well with this one except for a slight mention of a dragon… :)

Another from ‘spaghetti’ is in the Guardian thread HERE.

Sorry if you don’t want a spoiler but I feel it’s impossible for 8 million viewers to all keep quiet about a show – especially when they want to share the fun with others. Also the original source material for the show was written in 1893..

So if you don’t want to know what happened, please don’t look!

Amazon Top 100 Women’s fiction and is spring here – or am I deluded?

January 11, 2012

I’m sitting here at the computer, with only a T shirt and no heating on. Okay, I’m mean with the heating but this time last year, I was wearing five layers of clothing. Today the sun is shining outside and it feels like spring.

I’m almost tempted to go camping… :)

One reason for my good mood is that Carrie goes off the Map has made the Amazon Women’s Fiction Top 100.

Amazon updates every hour so it’s in and out but thank you to everyone who has blogged about it or bought it.

I’ve got a new cover to show you soon but still no news on the new book. I’ll keep deluding myself in the meantime and enjoying the sun!
