Fowl fiction

March 19, 2008

This is so cool. I got mentioned (with Rosy Thornton) on the Fowl Fanfiction site, which is a fan zine for the Artemis Fowl books. I am so proud to have begun my novel career as a fanfiction author. Fanfiction must be the biggest literary genre on the planet yet most people have never heard of it. It is much maligned yet there are some superb fanfiction writers out there. There are now three published authors from our North & South site alone – and surely more to come.

You don’t have to follow a specific route into writing or dance to anyone’s tune. It doesn’t matter how you begun or what you like writing. Just do it!

Auction update

Some of you know I’ve been gathering signed books for a charity appeal. I hope I’ll be able to publicise it online to allow more people to bid. It’s for a very good cause that touches almost everyone.

We’re thinking about a feature on fanfiction over at VL, Phillipa …

You may be hearing from us!

Fanfic rocks! It’s just the greatest apprenticeship for new writers – and in the most supportive of environments (i.e. the friendship of the internet and of a common obsession!)
