Richard Armitage up for BAFTA with Spooks

March 24, 2009

The BAFTA Television nominations have been announced and hurrah – Spooks has been nominated for Best Drama Series.

I used to watch it before Richard Armitage was cast as Lucas North and I’m so glad I came back to the series. RA was a bonus – I would have found the show gripping and utterly compelling without him. Honest. 🙂 That last episode had me on the edge of my seat. You may have gathered by now that I love thrillers, adventure and gritty drama, perhaps even more than I love romance. Put the lot together and I’m totally hooked.

Other nominations I cheered at include The Devil’s Whore – the passionate English civil war drama/romance. John Simm, Angela Riseborough and Michael Fassbender gave superb performances in this. Get it on DVD if you can.

I didn’t know that, thanks for telling me. I think he deserves the nomination, he was wonderful in it.

I love The Devil’s Whore, beautifully filmed as well as well cast.

Debs – Even though I could hardly bear to watch TDW, I couldn’t NOT watch it. I had hoped John Simm might get a nomination.
Liz – I bet Spooks gets repeated on BBC3 in the summer. 🙂 Did I tell you we are coming to Cornwall in September?

  4. Elizabeth Hanbury Says:

TDW was fabulous, wasn’t it?! I’m really thrilled that dishy Michael Fassbender has been cast as Heathcliff in the 2010 production of Wuthering Heights. And yay, well done to Spooks!

  5. Phillipa Says:

Liz – I didn’t know about Wuthering Heights. That’s a double reason to watch it.
