Christmas tree and Afternoon tea

December 11, 2010

So now it must be Christmas because we have our tree. We always buy a real tree from Cannock Chase Forest and I just love wrapping up, heading off to the forest centre and choosing the tree. Even the cheesy Christmas pop tunes they play, make me smile

This week, I’ve carried on getting into the festive spirit. I went for a Christmas Afternoon tea at a lovely old hotel called Netherstowe House with some friends from my newspaper days. The hotel served mulled wine, Earl Grey tea, dainty sandwiches and a host of festive delights such as tiny cranberry jellies, cinnamon scones and Christmas cake.

Here I am – and yes that cake stand was all for me!

On the writing front, I’ve had some more lovely reviews for Dating Mr. December including this one from Life in the Thumb.

Also, to my complete surprise, the British book blog, Novelicious, had reviewed one of my LBD novels, Just Say Yes, and given it 10/10. I’ve never had a 10 before – I feel like I’m on Strictly Come Dancing (Dancing with the Stars in the US?) This novel will be published in the US early 2012 but you can get it from amazon.co.uk on Kindle now – or pick up a print copy if you can find one.

The best thing about last week, however, was that I wrote something. I was seized by an irresistible urge to get a story down on paper, just for pure pleasure. It was partly inspired by reading about all the recent rescues in the Lake District. It’s a 2,500 word romantic, smoochy tale from Bannerdale (the fictional village in Dating Mr December.)

I absolutely loved writing it, and felt all my mojo rush back. When it’s been honed a little more, I’m going to send it out with my newsletter and to Facebook friends – details of how to sign up coming in the New Year.

That’s it for now, have a great weekend, enjoy your Christmas holiday preparations

Yep, you can’t beat a real tree. There’s something about the smell and the prickliness that spells Christmas far better than the rustle of plastic leaves. Hope you have a grand Christmas, and a New Year filled with mojo!
