Miss Potter

February 21, 2007

I’ve just got back from a few days in the Lake District where we celebrated my OH’s xx birthday with a Double Feature trip to see Miss Potter and have dinner at Zeff’s. I was under orders from several sources NOT to take a laptop so I didn’t and had a wonderful, relaxing time. With the revisions to Wish You Were Here behind me and a new idea bubbling up, I decided to focus on doing ..nothing!

Miss Potter is the new movie about the life of author/artist/conservationist, Beatrix Potter, who lived and worked in the Lake District in later life.

I know there are a few inaccuracies in the film but I loved it. It was funny, tender and very moving. I was in awe at Beatrix Potter’s creativity in writing her books and getting them published and even more, so at her determination to protect the Lake District’s heritage and landscape.

I will definitely be getting Miss Potter on DVD and also …um Ewan McGregor and Lloyd Owen were in the film as well as Renee Zellweger. I’ve always had a soft spot for Lloyd Owen!

Ah Pip – we share good taste. I love Lloyd the lust bucket too. It’s def all in the eyes (sigh). A pal and I nearly stayed in Granton Upon Spey as Monarch groupie tourists (but then decided it might be a touch sad, even for us). I do miss Sunday night MotG. Don’t even start me on Hamish MacBeth nostalgia.

Congrats on the Australia success – that’s MEGA news. Right-o. Back to ugly revision hell. jx

Now what was it made me fairly sure you might have just watched ‘Miss Potter’, Pip? Something in your latest piece of writing, perhaps?

    😉

Glad you had a nice rest.
