Lakeland inspiration
May 1, 2009
Well, I’m off to my favourite place in the world (not that I’ve seen much of it!) Mr B and I are going to The Lake District while our friends from Spain house sit for us.
I just can’t wait to go. The moment I see those lakes and mountains, real life seems to melt away. Before we bought the holiday let flat up there, we rented a farmhouse for my 40th birthday and took a load of friends on the Coniston launch. Some of the photos on their site will take your breath away.
We were very lucky with the weather that night. We had a wonderful time on the launch, touring the lake and hearing some of the fascinating (and gruesome) stories about the lake’s history. Here I am with Mr B, looking very happy. I’ve never forgotten that evening and the location has inspired the book I’ve recently finished.
It’s been a real year of ups and downs so far but the good news is that my business has emerged, Phoenix like, from the ashes of the credit crunch. I’m now very nicely busy for the next couple of months. As for any novel news, it may be some time before I know anything. I’ve been dabbling and experimenting with a couple of ideas but for the next few days I’m just going to have a lovely break with Mr B.
See you next week!
