It’s on its way – help!
December 13, 2009
Yes, I’ve only just noticed that it’s Christmas, what with Stuff Happening and all. I only really realised as we drove through the little villages and towns of Breconshire, Wales yesterday. They were all lit up for the season with trees and lights and looked quite beautiful as the sun set.
We were on our way back from a walk up 2,900 ft Pen Y Fan mountain. At the top, all the blades of grass were frozen like the glittering ice crystals in Superman. But I’m not Superman and a walk that should have been downhill all the way from the top, wasn’t. Sigh. Never mind. I made it home.
Today, all in mad rush, we wrote the cards. I always find looking at card list to be a bittersweet experience. At the end of a year, not everyone is still on the list due to the Grim Reaper and people splitting up. But new people are added – like new friends and partners and in 2009, we’ve had a new baby in the family for the first time in years.
Last Christmas day, we had a wonderful phone call from a cousin to say she was expecting after many many years of trying. The baby is six months old now. My own daughter is going to be godmother to her own godmother’s son. If you know what I mean!

It’s strange looking back over each year and I can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of another one. Here’s to a brilliant 2010 for you.
