Writers’ gossip

May 27, 2011

Having locked myself away all week writing commissioned projects and editing, I escaped at lunchtime today for a Writers Lunch Meeting with Nell Dixon and Elizabeth Hanbury.

I find I now can’t do without these get togethers at which we talk business and pleasure – for that’s what writing is to us, a bit of both.

Nell showed us some of the fantastic cover concepts for her new book with Myrmidon. Elizabeth shared the latest news about her Regency novels for Hale and I moaned as usual. Well, not all the time!

Actually, I chatted through some of the back story about the heroine of my current wip, Miranda. Getting the insights of two experienced fellow writers has helped me crystallize the last few final pieces of the character’s ‘jigsaw’ of motivation in my mind. I’m 70% through a paper edit and all I have to do now is start the rewrite.

But I don’t know when I’m going to find time for Miranda because my daughter’s back from uni for the weekend and I’m naturally going to spend the precious time with her and Mr Bennet. Then next week, my blog tour for Wish You Were Here starts!

I also told Nell and Liz about some exciting news for readers involvingDating Mr December with Nell and Liz – I’ll be able to tell you more in two weeks time. 🙂

Have a great weekend – guess what? It’s another ‘bank holiday’ in the UK. 🙂
