US vs UK editing and family time

June 17, 2011

Pattti at BookAddict asked me a very interesting question:

One topic I’ve been wondering about is if there’s a difference between US and UK readers/fans and whether UK writers have to keep their US readers in mind when they write (slang words, political or cultural figures, etc).

I’ve answered in a blog post here – it’s mainly about references and editing for a different market. The difference between US and Uk readers is a subject I’m not yet qualified to comment on – and I’m not sure it’s worth generalising anyway.

I’ve had a fun week, ending on a high with my books making the Books on Boards charts and the Amazon.com Kindle Top 100.

And WYWH also got a four star review from Eva’s Sanctuary who said: ‘This is a wonderful chick book. It is full of romance with lots of sexual tension going on. You have a sexy main male character who knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it. You have a strong willed female who is not afraid to go after what she wants and is able to set boundaries from the start.’

It’s been an exciting week but I’m really looking forward to taking the weekend off! I’m meeting some book loving and writer friends tomorrow and we’re spending some time with Ms Bennet for Father’s Day.

Hope you have a happy weekend!
