Miranda’s Mount – available to pre-order now!

September 18, 2012

Hurrah. Miranda’s Mount is now available to pre-order on Amazon US and UK. It’s published on October 4th which is only two weeks away so why not go for it now?

On Amazon US, click HERE

It’s on at a brilliant price – even though it’s longer than all my other books. I am SO excited about this book as it was a joy to write – the castle setting is spectacular , the heroine was great fun to write and the hero was funny, brooding, infuriating but to-absolutely- die-for – all the characters just spoke to me from start to finish of the story.

I do hope you enjoy it – but if you’ve liked my other novels, particularly Decent Exposure, I think you’re going to love it. 🙂

New beginnings

September 17, 2012

Surfing with the family at Gwithian beach

Well, that’s it. Summer’s over and autumn beckons. We’ve just got back from our annual September holiday in Cornwall which we spend with our daughter and this year, her boyfriend. Ever since she’s been at university, we’ve set aside this week to have some quality time together before autumn begins and she has to start a new term.

Normally, I’m pretty grumpy when we have to come home but this time, things are different because I have the excitement of the launch of Miranda’s Mount to look forward to in just two weeks time!

(It still hasn’t appeared on Amazon so I can’t give you a buy link and I’ll admit I’m getting a bit twitchy but it is on this site, for just £2.09 so if you want to preorder from there, go for it!)

I’ve written some posts for the blog tour, with lots of tips on writing romance, and insights into the characters and dramatic setting of Miranda’s Mount. I’ll be announcing the tour dates next week.

The book is set on an island castle in Cornwall and we actually passed the real thing, St Michael’s Mount, on one of our trips to Land’s End. When I saw THIS wonderful painting in a gallery in St Ives, I had to have it.

While I was in St Ives, I also dropped into a talk by Liz Fenwick at the St Ives September festival and had coffee with Liz afterwards, overlooking the harbour.

With Liz Fenwick at her talk about The Cornish House in St Ives.

Hopefully, I’ll be back very soon with the Amazon link to the book and watch out for plans for the launch party here starting October 4th.

Writing up a storm

September 6, 2012

Forgive me, for I have sinned: it’s been weeks since my last blog post.

In my defence, I can report that I’ve been writing up a storm. I’ve finished a draft of my next book for Piatkus Entice (titled ‘It Happened One Night’) and also written a partial of a new book which I shall call Project X for now (gives evil cackle.)

Plans for the launch of Miranda’s Mount are well underway as Publication Day – October 4th – is speeding towards me. I don’t have a link to it on Amazon yet but it us up on the Little Brown website (which is very funky, take a look here.)

Soon as I have all the sales links, I’ll post them.

Starting in late September, I’ll be doing a UK blog tour and sharing some insights and tips about my writing process, the biggest of which is : Don’t do what I do! There will also be a contest to win an e copy of the book.

Back soon… 🙂

Miranda’s Mount – the cover!

August 16, 2012

Ta da: here it is. The cover for my next book, Miranda’s Mount, available on October 4th from Amazon, and all e-book sites. I’ll post the links to pre-order it as soon as they’re up but for now, here’s the cover and blurb:

A sexy, funny contemporary romance set in Cornwall from popular UK women’s fiction author, Phillipa Ashley

When Miranda finds herself fighting for her home, her job and her heart, sleeping with the enemy may not be the best tactic…

With no family of her own, Miranda Marshall has developed a healthy respect – some would say obsession – with other people’s histories. As property manager of a spectacular island castle in Cornwall, she’s made St Merryn’s Mount one of the UK’s most popular heritage attractions. While she may have the castle running like clockwork, Miranda hasn’t bargained on its sexy owner returning to claim his birthright. Dark, handsome and with a rakish reputation, Jago St Merryn not only looks like a pirate but is intent on flogging the Mount to a soulless leisure corporation. Miranda faces the battle of her life as she tries to persuade him to face up to his past and continue the St Merryn dynasty. But Jago has his own reasons for jumping ship and when he throws down the gauntlet to Miranda, she’s forced to delve into painful memories she’d much rather keep hidden…

What did the Olympics do for you?

August 13, 2012

Well, it’s all over. The not-so-fat lady sang, the young dudes sang, the old guys sang – 80,000 people in the stadium sang and millions more watching on TV joined in. The Closing Ceremony of London 2012 has come and gone and what on earth do we do now?

So much has been said and written about the incredible success of these Games that I can’t really add any more. For 17 days, I’ve been entertained, thrilled and moved by the skills and dedication of athletes from all over the world, and the Herculean efforts of all those people who made the Games such a phenonemon.

Happy at the canoe slalom after Team GB won gold and silver

We were lucky enough to be at Lee Valley Whitewater Centre to see GB men’s canoe doubles take Gold and Silver in the canoe slalom and I also visited the wonderful Olympic Park to watch the hockey. I’ll never forget either experience.

Stott and Ballie's winning run at Lee Valley

I’ve felt energized and inspired by the Games, and far from it being a distraction (well, almost…) I’ve actually felt a boost to my creativity and have got on really well with my June 2013 release for Piatkus and also started something new and exciting. Just a fledgling project at the moment but we’ll see. 🙂

My highlight? How can you choose one? But Andy Murray winning gold in the tennis is right up there- read my previous post about Wimbledon to see why.

The amazing velodrome at Olympic Park

I was so sad to see the flame extinguised but there are still things to look forward to. The cover of Miranda’s Mount for one (any day now. :)), the release of Miranda’s Mount on October 4th, finishing my next book and starting a new one.

If you’ve been inspired by the Olympics, I’d love to know about it. Anyone for handball or 10m diving?
