What makes every moment worthwhile?

November 30, 2011

THIS does. An in-depth review from the great review site, Bookishly Attentive, which does contain the odd spoiler but it’s safe to quote the opening. 🙂

‘With a Phillipa Ashley novel, you know just what you’re getting before you open the book to the first page. There are fascinating locales, endearing protagonists, quirky secondary characters, an amazing love story and a gloriously happy ending. Carrie Goes Off The Map follows this trail perfectly.’

There are few things so satisfying as when a reader really ‘gets’ your book and characters – it’s then you really do feel that every moment spent agonising was worth while.

I loved writing Carrie Goes off the Map but I probably spent longer working on it, on the character development, the slow, delicious burn of the romance than on any other book. I wanted to make Carrie and Matt as real as possible while still giving readers an entertaining book. I hope you like it – it’s out tomorrow in print and e-book everywhere in the USA or worldwide from Book Depository.

Back here tomorrow for a launch party

PS It was called It Should Have Been Me in the UK – if you’ve read it, would love to know your thoughts on the title.

Has he got news for you…

November 28, 2011

I can’t believe that December is here already and that it’s Publication Week for Carrie Goes off the Map in the USA. I’ll be back on Thursday with a launch party here on the blog and probably the only chance on the web for non-US readers to win a signed copy of the book – for US readers, there will be giveaways and contests on my Off the Map blog tour.

Today, I’m over at Elle Amberley’s blog taking up her Best of Three Challenge. 🙂

On atotally random note, did you see last night’s BBC repeat of Have I Got News For You? If you’re not from the UK, HIGNFY is a very funny and very sharp panel show that satirises the news, politicians and celebrities. They always have a guest presenter and last night’s was the the totally gorgeous Dan Stevens aka Matthew from Downton Abbey and Sense & Sensibility. What a lovely way to end the weekend…

UPDATE
Jenna Bayley Burke of The Pink Heart Society blog ( I am not worthy…) has featured 12 Men of Christmas and its stars two days running. Thanks, guys and for the hunky pictures of Josh Hopkins and Jesse Pavelka.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 24, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving to all readers and friends who are celebrating!

As it’s that time of year again, Felicia has told me that 12 Men of Christmas (the movie made of Decent Exposure/Dating Mr December) is running on Lifetime over the holidays. For all those asking when it will be aired in the UK, I still don’t know but any excuse to post a picture of Josh Hopkins, who plays Will.

Have a lovely holiday weekend. 🙂

PS I’ll be notifying the winner of my entries in the TRS Thanksgiving party later – sorry I didn’t get chance to post but the winner does receive an e-copy of Fever Cure. 🙂

UPDATE: Jenna Bayley Burke has reviewed 12 Men of Christmas on the Pink Heart Society blog today. 🙂
