My research trip to Devon
March 30, 2008
A few quick pictures of our trip in ‘Bill’ the vintage VW campervan who stars in the book I’m writing now called It Should Have Been Me. In this story, the characters make a trip in the summer when it’s hot! They spend a lot of the time in bikinis and shorts but we were well wrapped up in outdoor gear.
First, here’s my husband with ‘Bill’ at Arlington Court, a grand house which overlooks Exmoor.
Here’s me at Baggy Point, above Croyde Beach – a famous surfing beach (there are surfers in the book).
This book has needed a lot of research and I’m very grateful to all the people who have helped me, some of whom spend their time saving lives (ahem).

Croyde Beach is a famous North Devon surf beach. There is a webcam/surfcam (google croyde webcam) However, what isn’t well known is that there is a sewerage outlet nearby into the sea at Croyde and quite often there are floaters….It’s all “treated” sewerage, but not nice all the same!
What vision to place the outlet there! The water board must have left their brains at home that day!

Did all managed to sleep in it???? Love the photos!

Clorinda – I didn’t know that. Yuk. How horrible! You mentionin leaving brains at home – is that a North & South ism (ignore me if you don’t know what I mean…:)
Liz – just me and the OH. In the roof. It was very very cosy. Ahem. Our bed at home is now much appreciated.
