Behind the times
February 4, 2009
I am sure I must be the last writer on Earth to have discovered this brilliant writing/industry site – How Publishing Really Works. But just in case I’m not, go there now.
It’s full of essential advice, informed opinion and Writer Bewares. It really does do what it says on the tin and tells you How Publishing Really Works. Trouble is I wasted spent at least half an hour on it last night. Addictive stuff. Scary stuff. Inspiring stuff.
One of my favourite posts is Apologies to Angelas Everywhere.
Perfect for the serial Procrastinator (who is now too scared to send off the Mad Proposal to her agent.)
I’m also hoping that any day soon, my author copies of It Should Have Been me will arrive. Naturally there’ll be a chance to win signed books in the launch week. 🙂
Jane Smith Says:
Phillipa, thank you so much for that! It’s much appreciated, and I’m glad you like my blog so much. My only quibble is that you suggested your tine there was WASTED. Perhaps you’re not so kind after all…!
debs Says:
You’re not the last one, I probably am. So thanks for the tip, I shall have a look now.
Phillipa Says:
Jane – A moment enjoyed is never wasted – that’s what my old English teacher used to say. (Though I do wonder if smoking a hubble bubble pipe or playing online Bingo counts.)
Fascinating site. But are you really called Jane Smith?
Jane Smith Says:
Yes, I really am called Jane Smith: and guess what my father is called? John.
Having never smoked anything, let alone a hubble bubble pipe, nor played any online Bingo, I can’t help you with that one: but how about looking at Stuff On My Cat? Is that wasted time? I don’t think so, but my sister disagrees.
Phillipa Says:
I’ve seen Stuff on My Cat. I love ti – my daughter pointed me in its direction.
