I do like to be beside the seaside

August 19, 2009

I’ve started packing for a flying visit to Pembrokeshire in West Wales. I’ve never been before so I can’t wait to see all those ruined castles, sweeping beaches and craggy cliffs. If you’ve read my books you’ll know I love landscape p*rn. I can’t start a book until I have a setting I’m in love with as much as the characters.

In between working, I went to see The Ugly Truth with my daughter. Normally, I love Gerard Butler (especially in POTO and Dear Frankie) but I’m afraid this movie didn’t really do it for me. I’m no prude (!) but I found some of the lines icky and I didn’t laugh as much as I’d have liked to. I can take lines like that from Russell Brand or the Mock the Week team but not from GB.

However, it does give me an excuse to post a pic of Gerry and Katherine Heigl.

PS If you’re up in Cumbria this weekend, don’t miss THIS.

I was going to see this, but not so sure now. Maybe I’ll wait for it to come on TV or something.

Thanks for the pic though, he’s always lovely to look at, and hope you have a great trip.

Debs – oh, don’t let me stop you. Go along – lots of people love the movie. It may have just been me.

Lori – I thought Katherine H was very funny – esp in one scene with a doctor in a tree.

You’ll love Pembrokeshire,Phillipa.Pembroke Castle is a must-see, as is the village of Solva.Tenby is lovely in the Winter, but too busy in the Summer. If you decide to visit Caldy Island though, you get the boat from Tenby.
St David’s is a must-see too.The refrec, in the Cathedral does very good food.
    Have a wonderful time

    What Debs said.
Last week I had to chose between ‘The Ugly Truth’ and ‘The Proposal’ – and went to see Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Have a lovely time in Wales!
