Highs and lows

December 15, 2010

It’s turning into a funny old week, up and down like a cabinet minister’s drawers (as my old editor once put it – he was describing the pagination of that week’s edition, as the ads came in or were pulled out.)

Anyway, I digress. I won’t talk about the low points but here are some of the highs.

Tapestry of Love, the new book from by my friend and brilliant writer, Rosy Thornton was chosen by Radio Scotland’s Book Cafe reviewers as a Book of the Year. This is so well deserved, I can’t tell you. Congrats, Rosy!

I met Nell Dixon for lunch and we set the writing world to rights and discussed some plans for the future. We ordered Philly, steak and mushroom wraps. Sadly, we were gossiping so much, we’d eaten almost all of it before we realised that durghh, there was no actual steak in there. Free lattes from the pub to compensate. 🙂

I had a great and amusing review from By the Broomstick The reviewer had seen the movie without connecting it to the book -and her impressions are funny and interesting. Go take a look.

Sorry to hear there have been some ‘downs’ but you can’t beat lunch with a friend as a pick-me-up can you? That’s my excuse for the mince pie and clotted cream I was persuaded (snort) to eat a few minutes ago!

    Lots of love,

    Rach.
